  34. Take it easy!  Seeing as how Autodesk 3D Studio distributes all thier
  35. textures and such on CD-Rom included with the package and the fact
  36. that most of us who use the Toaster in a professional environment
  37. have SyQuest removables, I think it's high time Newtek do something
  38. intelligent about distribution.  Besides, the installation of the new
  39. software for the Toaster IS related to Lightwave and pertinent to
  40. this list.  Also, the installation is way over the 30 disks you
  41. mention.  Someone brought up the 1.77 meg disks.  I doubt very
  42. seriously that Newtek would use this format as it is not the least
  43. common denomiator.  Most people have 880k floppies.

  45. Mastering a CD-ROM and distributing them (with a few system disks)
  46. would probably the most cost effective solution for Newtek.  For
  47. those who do not have a CD-ROM or SyQuest then they will be stuck
  48. with the 50 or so disks.  That is the way I would do it if I were
  49. them.

  51. It will not raise the cost of the upgrade unless you go for a SyQuest
  52. 88 meg cart since the carts are somewhat expensive.  The discussion
  53. is NOT pointless.

  55. I will say, however, that we should rope in our discussion to pertain
  56. a bit more to LightWave 3D than the current trend to talk about
  57. general Toaster items.  But hey, is anyone out there really adverse
  58. to the current batch of posts?  If the majority is, then I will do
  59. something about it.

  65. administrative post will be sent about the subject.

  67. Since I am going off on an administrative tangent I would like to
  68. inform you that I will proabably be putting the distribution issue to
  69. a vote soon.  I would like you all to know that idea is to add
  70. newsgroup distribution for the list.  The normal mailing list
  71. addresses will not change and the only change will be (if voted in)
  72. the additional distribution through a (probably alt.graphics)
  73. newsgroup.  The list would be gated both ways.  I am working on ways
  74. to stop the bounced messages as well as adding the admin/request/post
  75. addresses to the bottom of posts so that everyone has them at thier
  76. fingertips.
